Press Release

With its Golf TDI Hybrid, Volkswagen demonstrates the kind of potential inherent in the combination of high-tech diesel engine, electric motor and 7-speed DSG technology. Exhibited for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show, the concept car consumes no more than 3.4 liters of diesel fuel per 100 kilometers. This powerful full-hybrid Golf TDI Hybrid can be operated either in internal-combustion mode only or in a combination mode of powerful yet thrifty TDI and electric motor. The car is also designed to run on emissions-free electric power only. Power transmission to the front axle is managed by 7-speed DSG technology. In city traffic, the vehicles automatic stop-start system will even automatically switch off diesel operations.

Golf TDI Hybrid

Volkswagen engineers rose to the challenge of creating a viable, highly-efficient family vehicle capable of emitting less than 90 g/km of CO2 by creating the Golf TDI Hybrid concept, a car which combines an advanced 1.2-litre 75 PS diesel engine with an electric motor and the very latest generation of seven-speed DSG gearbox. It is capable of achieving 83 mpg on the combined cycle and emits just 89 g/km of CO2 while around town the vehicle reverts to purely electric mode to be emission-free.

Zenz Sports Concept Car
This sports concept car was created by Ralf Zenz, a German designer who envisages a world ultra-efficient performance motoring. This Zenz Sports Concept Car will be unveiled at Geneva Motor Show next month, with a full scale model stretching 4.2m and featuring a super slippery drag coefficient of just 0.21Cd. As had been said by Zenz that a production version of the car would consume less than 3.0L of fuel per 100km, but this concept car would be able to reach speeds as high as 230km/h. This can be happened because of the aerodynamic shape of the car, with low 760kg kerb weight and efficient 140hp diesel engine. However, Zenz is working on an even more powerful version that can reach a top speed of 260km/h and remains just as economical. Additionally, adjustable seats and pedals would be installed on the next Zens’ plans, along with electric windows and mirrors, a fully tilting steering wheel and power steering, air-conditioning and CD stereo and navigation system.
